Events and Festivals

Community Events & Festivals covered by Paul Edwards, sometimes I am asked to take a few photographs or produced a small video at a local event. If you would like me to turn up at your local event please contact me. I do get very busy and have to be a bit selective, but if I am available I might be able to make it. I would like to point out that my work is totally voluntary, and thats because I enjoy doing what I do.

(Health Issues mean I can no longer continue, please ignore the above text, if you need a reporter, check out the Community Reporter or contact page for help

Star of Skyride Local at Philips Park, ClaytonI recently went on a Skyride Local, these are group led rides that are suited to individual riding skills, so there are various rides for family or rides catering for the more experienced rider. Skyride is a partnership between Sky and British Cycling, the aim is to get more people on bikes.

I decided to try the family ride at Philips Park, mainly because it was local and did not want anything too exerting. Group led rides are a lot fun and there is safety in numbers, you get to ride with experienced people who look after the group, as well as giving your bike a safety check and providing help with cycling tips.

Dance, Percussion and Drum groups from around the North West blended music styles from africa to brazil, a fusion of sound you only find at big carnivals, mixed in with traditional dancing. The event was a success and I for one would like to see it repeated in places like Manchester, the crowd watched the cream of groups from the north west giving a fine display on their buildup to participating in upcoming carnivals.
